Nigel is always looking for the best business advantage for his clients that will allow them to maximize their returns, protect their assets and build their wealth in the most effective manner.
Nigel's passion for Business Management and Wealth Creation was discovered during his time at Curtin University where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Accounting and Finance. As a fully qualified Certified Practising Accountant, he drives both the firm and his clients businesses forward with experience, and gusto.
In a career spanning from 1998, Nigel appreciates the ongoing difficulties and problems that small business face. He approaches his advisory role in a friendly client focused manner training his clients to better understand all aspects of their business from start up through to continual growth.
Nigel's personal experience in investing and wealth creation enables him to help his clients to consider all aspects of their financial goals, so they too can attain success.
Away from the office, you will find him either playing or watching all types of sport, in particular football, cricket and basketball or relaxing with family and friends.
Danielle Langford - Office Manager
Danielle started with Ascent back in June 2009 as Receptionist and has since worked her way to Office Manager. Danielle enjoys organising and coordinating all aspects of Ascent and assisting the Accountants in any way possible to ensure all of Ascent's clients are met with a prompt, high level of customer service. Her expertise includes:
- Administrative services
- ASIC requirements
- Client workflow – following up client tax information and ensuring lodgement dates are met
- ATO registrations and updates
- Debtors management
- New & existing client relations & Marketing
Toni Gratteri CA - Tax Manager
B.Comm (Acc & Fin)
Toni joined the Ascent team in January 2020 after returning to the workforce from maternity leave. Prior to this, Toni was employed at a mid-tier accounting firm for 12 years, after graduating from Murdoch University in 2007. In March 2011, Toni was admitted into the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand as a fully qualified Chartered Accountant.
Toni is proficient in the preparation and review of self-managed superannuation fund, company, trust, individual and deceased estate income tax returns. She also regularly prepares and reviews financial statements, business activity statements and fringe benefits tax returns for clients in various entity structures and across a wide range of industries.
Toni considers herself to be a friendly and approachable person and is passionate about mentoring junior staff to assist in their career development.
Toni currently works on a part time basis in order to spend time with her two sons on her days off. In her spare time, Toni enjoys camping trips with family and friends.
Bora Heng CPA - Senior Accountant
B. Comm (Acc & IS)
Bora immigrated to Australia as a youngster in 1990 from his country of birth, Cambodia. After studying Accounting at Curtin University and graduating in 2001, he then commenced his career that year at Ascent as an Accountant seeing himself graduate as a CPA in 2013.
Bora is skilled and experienced in the preparation of Individual, Partnership, Family Trust and Company Tax Returns. He also has extensive experience in complex bookkeeping methods being thoroughly conversant with MYOB, Cashflow Manager, Quickbooks and other Accounting Software applications.
Bora focuses on making life easier for his clients and he works closely with them, providing a variety of training on the correct use of their accounting software and bookkeeping practices to ensure their Business Activity Statements are produced easily and accurately. In addition he assists them with wealth creation strategies.
Bora enjoys spending his time with his beloved wife and family attending movies or enjoying a backyard BBQ. He is also a passionate AFL supporter closely following The West Coast Eagles.
Bora is very passionate about personal and professional development. Constantly striving to increase and develop his skill which he believes can only assist his clients further.
Brendan Jones - Senior Accountant

Brendan has been a part of the team at Ascent Accountants since July 2007. He prides himself on providing a prompt and professional service to all of his clients.
Brendan has a real passion for Self Managed Superannuation Funds. He especially enjoys assisting clients in relation to purchasing rental investment properties within their Superannuation Funds and unlocking the potential tax benefits that this type of strategy has to offer.
Away from the office Brendan can be found catching up on the odd job or two around the house, relaxing with his partner and little daughter, watching movies or entertaining friends and playing computer games online competing against friends.
Albert de Jager - Accountant
B. Comm (Acc & Taxation)
Albert graduated from Curtin University (Accounting & Taxation) at the end of 2015. He began working at Ascent Accountants in August 2015 and worked on a part-time basis, while studying, till the end of the year, before starting full-time in January 2016. He is also currently studying to become a CPA.
Albert assists the senior accountants with preparation of Individual, Trust and Company Tax Returns and also Financial Reports.
Albert enjoys almost any sport, both to watch and to play in his spare time and is a passionate West Coast Eagles supporter. He also loves to spend time with friends and family, going out for a drink on the weekend, camping and 4x4ing.
Justin Hall - Graduate Accountant
B. Comm (Acc & Finance)
Justin graduated from The University of Western Australia (Accounting & Finance) at the end of 2017. He began working at a small tax firm on a part-time basis throughout his studies and moved to full-time once his studies were completed, and has since joined Ascent in October 2019. He is currently studying to become a CPA.
Justin assists the senior accountants with the preparation of Individual, Trust and Company Tax Returns, Business Activity Statements and also Financial Reports.
In his spare time Justin enjoys playing and watching sports, such as Indoor cricket, Basketball and AFL as well as Running. He also enjoys going hiking on the weekends and spending time with family down in Margaret River.
Katrina Martin - Bookkeeper/Payroll Manager
Katrina has been with Ascent for over 17 years and has an extensive understanding of Ascent’s client database. Katrina’s role in client and bookkeeping services include:
- Helping Accountants with administration services
- Providing recordkeeping service to clients
- Preparation and lodgement of clients Business Activity Statements
- Client training in accounting software, recordkeeping and payroll
- Ascent payroll management & client payroll services
- Supporting clients' new business start ups
Wendy Cross - Tax Administration Assistant
Wendy commenced her career in office management and accounting when she was a Company Director of Hazfreight Australia Pty Ltd which she co-owned with her now husband some 27 years ago. During this time she worked with an interesting and diverse group of companies and people. Wendy’s experience includes all facets of office management and began working with MYOB when GST was introduced in 2000.
Wendy moved into an Accounting Practice where her skills were expanded to using Xero, Cashflow, MYOB AE and Handisoft. She also worked as payroll officer for two Companies in the North of the State.
Wendy joined Ascent in July 2018 as Tax Administration Assistant. Her skills are vast, but are in the main to keep the work flowing through the office. She brings with her exceptional organisation, time management and administrative skills, not the least of which is a focus on delivering high quality services to our clients.
